VILLAS: 7 | SERVICE: EXCELLENT | LOCATION: BAY OF MILOS | AMENITIES: OCEAN VIEW, OUTDOOR LIVING AND SHOWER, PRIVATE SWIM DECK
A secluded nine-acre area of pristine land features Skinopi's seven stone villas, nestled among olive trees, lavender, and thyme. Nestled harmoniously within its surroundings, the Lodge presents a tranquil haven of Cycladic simplicity and sophistication. Their harmonious design merging indoors with outdoors is just a short distance from their private deck overlooking the Aegean Sea and the charming fishing village of Skinopi.
CHECK-IN
Arriving at Skinopi involves a scenic drive down the beautiful hills of the western side of Milos Island. As you descend from the mountain, you’ll discover a secluded beach and fisher town below. Skinopi is nestled among the hilltops, almost emerging from the landscape. We received a warm welcome from Ellie, the host of Skinopi, who guided us around the property and villa. Ellie shared her contact number with us, allowing us to reach out anytime we needed assistance. She also sent a list of must-visit restaurants in the islands, which we thoroughly enjoyed. Among them, she highlighted Medusa, which has become our favourite spot!
LODGES
We stayed in Villa Almyra, a spacious villa with an incredible view on the Aegean ocean and sunset. This villa is designed to host up to three guests within a single open area that includes a king-size bed and a single sofa bed. It features a bathroom equipped with both indoor and outdoor showers, as well as an outdoor kitchen fully equipped with a Nespresso machine, Korres bathroom amenities, Hairdryer and Bose portable sound system which we absolutely loved!
Skinopi also offers three two people villas, Kapari, Anemone and Thymari, two other 3 people villas Ellies, Levanda and one 4 people villa named Skinos. All villas bear the Greek names of the herbs and trees that surround them.
OUTDOOR COOKING
Although Ellie recommended several restaurants in the area, which we enjoyed visiting, we particularly cherished the opportunity to prepare a homemade meal in our lovely outdoor kitchen. Breakfast at sunrise was definitely a standout moment during our stay. The Skinopi team can arrange a locally curated breakfast basket for two, featuring freshly baked bread, cakes, seasonal fruits, homemade jams, local thyme honey, milk, yogurt, and freshly squeezed orange juice. This is an option we strongly recommend.
CLIFFED GARDENS
What amazed us most during our stay at Skinopi was the rugged natural landscape that enveloped us. The vibrant grasses shifted hues with each passing hour of sunlight. The sounds and gentle breeze from the Aegean Sea, along with sailing boats gliding by, created a picturesque scene, accentuated by the stunning sunrises and sunsets visible right from our window. Experiencing outdoor showers and cooking brought a true sense of liberation. Leave us castaways here and we would be perfectly content.
THE SWIM DECK & BEYOND
Skinopi features a private swim deck, allowing guests to enjoy the ocean and sun at any time of day. The property offers experiences including boat trips around Milos Island, featuring stunning locations like the caves of Kleftiko and Sykia. Guests can join a snorkeling trip to Polyegos, complemented by a lunch by the water. A variety of watersports are available, including windsurfing, kitesurfing, paddle boarding, sailing, kayaking, fishing, and scuba diving. Additionally, hiking opportunities to the archaeological area of Nichia, home to an ancient obsidian mine and factory, are provided. Finally, wellness activities such as private yoga sessions and massages are also offered.
A FINAL NOTE
We can conclude Skinopi is to us the most natural stay we have ever experienced. We would recommend staying here at least 3 nights to fully immerse and relax into the environment. Being indoor and outdoor on a cliff at the same time with a view over the Aegean ocean, is just beyond incredible. It gives you a feeling of privacy, peace, purity and warmth at the same time.
